Thankful for my father

For singing to me in the womb

Never letting me live a moment

Without knowing his love

Grateful to a mother

Who took on the world’s burdens

So I never knew struggle

Only the joy of living a full life

My sister taught me my worth

Reminded me that others

Don’t define who I am

My inner parts are a reflection of her

Friends wiped tears from my eyes

Showing up with unconditional support

Even when asking for help

Choked the voice out of me

Everyday Avengers

Who don’t need gadgets

Or weapons to save the day

They’re naturally heroic
