I loved you more than anyone

We started strong

But quickly fizzled out

I called out your name

I cut a piece of myself for you

You were my true love

Dirtied by the image

Given to you by others

I should’ve shut them out

I should’ve listened with my heart

You showed me how to live

How to experience joy

When we parted

A piece of me was left with you

An empty void only you can fill

You showed me how to live

I wish I knew

That you loved me

As much as I loved you

Things would be different

I would’ve focused on you

Only you

I would loudly boast about you

Instead of whispering your name

Hoping to forget your existence

You could’ve been my everything

But you’re nothing

Just a fading, distant memory
